"Guard the good deposit entrusted to you." (2 Timothy 1:14)
Our Ministry: Guardians of the Gospel.
We call our Sunday night student ministry the "Guardians of the Gospel" because the Apostle Paul taught Timothy (his student) to guard the "good deposit" that God guards in us: the Gospel.
"But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that Day what has been entrusted to me. Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you." (2 Timothy 1:12-14)
Our Method: Gather to Guard the Gospel.
The good news is that Jesus remains faithful even when we are faithless (2 Timothy 2:13). He guards what we can't and He keeps what we fail to hold onto. This is the daily life of the Christian: "looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…" (Hebrews 12:2). By God's grace, we help students look to Jesus by singing, hearing, and memorizing the Gospel together.
Every Sunday night we gather students (of all ages) at the church building. After singing a few Gospel songs and hymns, we hear one of our pastors proclaim the Gospel. We then go about guarding it by spending time together memorizing our weekly Gospel verses and quizzing each other in creative ways. Then on the first Saturday of every month (GO Saturday), we go out in small groups and share the Gospel with anyone who will listen.
FYI: All Junior High and High School students (and "students" of any age) who want to guard the Gospel together are welcome to join us. Just bring your Bible or your app and come hungry! (John 6:35-58)
